M&S car and home insurance policies scoop top rating

A raft of Marks & Spencer's range of insurance products has scooped top ratings from an independent financial services ratings company.

The retailer cum home insurance provider was awarded the maximum five star rating by Defaqto for its home insurance and car insurance policies.

Top marks were also given to the M&S Money's annual and single trip travel and pet insurance cover.

Brian Brown, head of insight at Defaqto, said: "We analysed the policies available from Marks & Spencer against the whole market, using a wide selection of product features and benefits.

"Each of these policies is among an exclusive selection of high quality policies to be rated Five Stars by Defaqto."

Meanwhile, Brendan Cook, chief executive at the firm's personal finance divisions, described the award of the five star ratings as "a great indication of the standard of insurance available from M&S Money".

Defaqto claims to assess the quality of 97 per cent of all products in the UK financial services market.
