Sheila's Wheels to launch home insurance

Specialist women's car insurance provider, Sheila's Wheels, is to begin offering home cover next year, it has been announced.

The provider claims that its home cover will be a radically different product from those of competitors and will include features which will appeal to women.

These include provision of alternative accommodation should utilities be cut off and new for old cover on clothes, which the firm says will mean that "depreciation and water and tear reductions are not applied to claims for clothing stolen or destroyed in the home".

Also included is free online access to the CreditExpert identity fraud detection and assistance service, which ordinarily costs £80 per year, and which ensures those who fall victim to the crime can easily access expert advice on the matter.

Jacky Brown, spokeswoman for Sheilas’ Wheels home insurance, said: "Traditional home cover has moved little with the times and until now has been unisex in its blandness.

"We’ve made sure that we know what women want when it comes to home insurance and understand the concerns and priorities of today’s modern woman - whether they’re single, a wife, a partner or a mother."

The home insurance cover will be available from February.
