Alfa MiTo comes to the UK

Alfa Romeo’s sporty new compact, the Alfa MiTo goes on sale in the UK from 24 January. Inspired by the Alfa 8C Competizione, the MiTo is Alfa's first sporty compact since the 1970s.

It is designed to appeal to a young, image-conscious driver. It is well priced, well built and well specified. The range will comprise of three high specification models: Turismo, Lusso and Veloce. Prices start at £10,745 for the entry level 1.4 16V Alfa MiTo Turismo, and rise to £14,745 for the top of the range 1.4 TB 155bhp Veloce.
Taking it's styling from the Alfa 8C Competizione supercar, the Alfa MiTo will turn heads. A V shaped bonnet with an imposing sculptured grill and teardrop headlamps add to it's appeal. The MiTo is an agile performance car, with flared wheel arches, minimal rear overhang and a high waist. Top of the range Alfa MiTo Veloce versions are fitted with 17” alloy wheels.

The rear of the hatchback features LED lights which are brighter and which respnd faster. Inside the dials on the dash are hooded and the central console has a satin finish. The ride is quiet and refined due to the excellent sound proofing, The inclusion of a Bose® sound system and integrated Blue & Me™ (certain models with Sat Nav) adds to a rewarding, luxury drive. On Lusso and Veloce models, the sound system can be managed using steering wheel controls

Alfa Romeo’s innovative DNA system has been included in this class for the first time. A three-position switch, situated beside the gearlever, alters the throttle response and steering set-up offering different driving environments – Dynamic, Normal and All Weather. Dynamic mode gives a quicker throttle response, sharper steering and the handling is more direct.The All Weather mode is ideal for icy or loose surfaces.

The entry level 95bhp 1.4 16V Turismo will sprint from 0-62mph in a respectable 11.2 seconds and deliver a top speed of 112mph.The turbocharged 155bhp 1.4 Lusso model delivers 0-62mph in 8 seconds, and continues to a top speed of 134mph.
In recognition of its safety credentials, the Alfa MiTo has already collected a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating. During emergency braking, the Alfa MiTo automatically operates its hazard lights to alert other road users.
