Audi's S1 is a super hatch high performance car

Audi's S1 is a super hatch high performance car, it will be looking to compete against the likes of the forthcoming Alfa Romeo MiTo. The S1 will evolutionise the A1 line up, Audi will utilize the same turbocharged 1.4 -litre engine as the VW Polo GTi Cup Edition. It currently makes 178 hp in the VW, but Audi is likely to upgrade the engine to at least 200 hp.

The S1 engine will be linked to a seven-speed S-Tronic twin-clutch gearbox. It will achieve 0 to 60 mph in 6 seconds, it's top speed will be electronically limited to the German agreement of 155 mph. This kind of performance will no doubt give all it's competitors something to think about. A stiff lowered suspension and a four wheel drive system will keep Audi's baby on the road. The four wheel drive sytem will be 40:60 in favour of the rear wheels. Drivers will be given a choice of driving modes.

Buyers will be bowled over by it's looks, the S1 will be offered with flared arches, 19-inch alloy wheels, roof-mounted spoiler, and a front end with a low front splitter and deep air intakes. All the features of the S1 makes it a menacing racy contender. Chrome finishings enhance it's good looks.
when it goes on sale in 2010 S1 models could be priced around £25,000.
