Fiat's eco:Drive saves more than 163,000kg of CO2.
Fiat have released figures which show that Fiat drivers who have been using the fuel saving device launched in October, have already saved more than 163,000kg of CO2.
Eco:Drive was launched by Fiat at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, eco:Drive is a free-of-charge tool that helps drivers understand the impact of their driving style on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Drivers use a USB stick which is plugged into the car's dashboard, detailed information about the car, such as how it has been driven can be uploaded and viewd on a computer. An analysis of the drivers performance is given as well as suggestions on how to improve your driving. These suggestions can, if undertaken help a driver save fuel and become a more efficient driver thus reducing their impact on the environment.
Drivers using eco:Drive can become part of eco:Ville, an environmentally-friendly on-line community where members can offer ideas as well as feedback. In response to feedback already received Fiat has already released four enhanced versions of the system. From next year eco:Drive will become available for use in the Fiat Bravo and Qubo and they are looking to eventually include the technology over their entire car range including their commercial vehicles.
