Brush up on your Highway Code, warns insurer
Drivers both young and old have been urged to brush up on their knowledge of the rules of the road. Car insurance company elephant.co.uk, issued the call for drivers to hit their Highway Code books after it was found that motorists aged between 17 and 21 and those in their sixties are the least knowledgeable on the roads.
This was borne out by the fact that these two groups answered the fewest number of questions correctly when quizzed on the Highway Code. Brian Martin, managing director, said: It’s interesting to see the two extreme age groups performing the worst in our test. Perhaps the over 60s have forgotten what they were taught and maybe the younger drivers simply weren’t paying enough attention when they were learning ;It’s interesting that those in their 40s and 50s wouldn’t have sat the theory test which was introduced in 1996 but came top in our test.
It seems to have done little to teach drivers the Highway Code. Motorists in the 40-49 age range finished top of the company’s quiz.
