First-ever SMS car insurance quote service launched

Drivers will be able to obtain a quote for car insurance direct to their mobile phone with the launch of a new text message service from swiftcover.com.

The instant quote service is claimed to offer greater convenience for customers who are not near a computer and is deemed to be of particular use to people who are "comparing cars at a second-hand car dealer".

Motorists will be able to access the service 24 hours per day, with swiftcover.com promising a quote within 60 seconds of receipt of a text message.

Tina Shortle, marketing director at swiftcover.com, said: "When you're considering spending thousands of pounds on a new car, you want all the facts at your disposal - and that includes how much it costs to insure.

"All too often, people end up losing out on a bargain because they don't have enough information to make a decision."

He added: "Our aim is to make car insurance as easy, simple and convenient as possible."
