Form book in Hamilton’s favour

Lewis Hamilton could become formula one world champion for the first time if he scores the necessary points at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Mercedes-Benz Motorsport vice president Norbert Haug has stated that Hamilton has scored 17 points more than his main title rival in the nine races since the French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours.

The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver has also started from pole position five times in this period, while being on the front row of the grid on another two occasions.

Haug stated: “We now have to continue this trend in the final Grand Prix of the year, a task which we underestimate by no means.

“The title win is everything but a formality. Of course, there are races with surprising conditions or Safety Car periods which can mix up the field, like in Singapore previously, and provide unexpected results. Lewis will be as focused as the team to score the necessary points in Brazil.”

Hamilton will become the sport’s youngest ever world champion if he gets the four points he needs at Interlagos.
